An employee of the BBB got one of the phone calls Thursday morning from a 201-520-0001 phone number.
The Better Business Bureau says it doesn't matter if the scam comes in on your cell phone, your home phone, an email, or regular mail. The BBB advises that you do not respond to random notices.
Instead, contact your bank, your credit card company, or whichever agency was referenced in the notice, and ask if they are calling about a problem with your account or service.
