Success ! ! !
After a lot of hassles we got to the bottom of this. Like you , we were repeatedly woken through out the night for months. Bottom line is this, you have to get/borrow a FAX machine to receive the FAX calls that you are getting. When we did this , there was a Return Phone Number on the FAX they sent! We called , complained and they took our number out of their system . . . . AND IT WORKED ! The calls stopped !!!
Now a recap of the details : FAX calls woke us up usually between hours of 1AM to 5:30 AM for months. They often came in waves of 3 or 4 in a row. I Googled Savvis , found a phone number to call and filed a complaint with them. A Manager emailed me saying he opened an internal investigation which went nowhere. Savvis said that phone number was not coming from any of their facilities ( . . . despite SAVVIS showing clearly on the caller I.D.)". Contacted our phone companies "Illegal Call Center" to complain and had a call trace performed. Our phone company said a police report was required to initiate a trace and make it a police matter. So the trace was done, our phone company said they contacted owner of subject phone # 201 272-8362 and asked them to stop (apparently not at that same number). Calls still continued to come, phone company was very surprised and called them again and again with NO RESULTS, the calls kept coming. More frustrating, our phone company would not tell us "Who 'THEY' " were. Further , Police were unable to do anything. So , I borrowed a friends FAX Machine and turned it on each night before going to bed. Several times calls came but no FAX came through then Finally , I recieved a FAX ! It Was a Hotel Reservation Confirmation FAX from PRICELINE.com to a nearby hotel. I found that our home phone # was only one digit different from the hotels FAX number ! When I called , they explained that reservation confirmations are qued into a system that automatically sends out hundreds of confirmation FAXes around the clock. We Never would have resolved this problem without the borrowed FAX machine! Our phone company and the police were both useless. I even logged over 30 complaints with DoNotCall.gov which also did nothing. I later deduced that other companies besides Priceline.com were also making reservation confirmations to the same hotel. The other company used a FAX / Phone number that I was able to call back and speak with someone. On another occasion it was a person who meant to call the hotels phone number (also close to our phone #) to confirm a reservation.
