I came into work today, and lo and behold, I had a voicemail on my phone from Friday, August 19, 2011 from this number. The person said that he was Officer Adam Smith of Hackensack, NJ, and was calling me on a legal fraud on my name and SSN. He stated that my personal info was listed on the case file of garnishment of US for a legal investigation of fraud. This person was of Asian decent and it was really hard to clearly understand exactly what he was trying to say. I personally do not know what else to do about these harassing calls. At home I do not answer my phone when I see a number like this. At work, it is the same but it is hard to work knowing these people are out there somewhere in this world harassing others to gain money illegally by scamming someone. I have received several of these calls from other numbers from persons of Asian decent about telling me that I owe for payday loans, fradulent check writing and theft that I know I did not get or do. If I have done all of this, I would have been in jail long before now. It is getting to become a nuisance. I have contacted the Attorney General of Alabama and the Federal Telecommunication Corporation (FTC) and no one seems to have the answer to how this harassment can be stopped. I reported my first harassments to the FTC back in October of last year and was told they would do an investigation with the information I provided to them and get back with me. Have I heard from them? No! I did receive a letter from the Atttorney General Office last month telling me that there was nothing that they can do legally, and I will have to get my own personl lawyer and investigate this matter. Isn't this about nothing! What is their purpose as Attorney General? Please someone explain to me so that I will know. It is really ashamed that we (American citizens) elect political officials into office and they can not help you when you really need them to.
