Thanks for the post. It is to the letter of what happened to my elderly parents. They gave no credit card or banking info but completely lost everything on their computer, drivers and all. It was taken over by remote desktop and they lost everything. I live out of town and told them to immediately go to my sister's house next door and log in to all their accounts and change their passwords. They called their bank to place an alert as well as ebay and paypal.  Just hope they acted soon enough.  Scary!

To everyone who gets calls from these numbers - they are a complete and total scam.  Windows would never call you personnally.  I would be worried they want to get all of your personal info off of your computer even more than what they want to charge you.  yes, all windows event viewer and other logs will contain harmless errors.  They use this to gain favor and trust with you.  Just tell them you are calling enforcement on them and report them!  This is one of a few different numbers they call from.  They ARE A SCAM!!!!

I just recieved a call from 2011552012, about 5 sec of silence then the number disconnected. Tried ringing the number  and an automated voice from Telstra said the number didnt exsist. Also recieded a call from 08 62252088, when I back tracked the number (0044 793739 7822) I got a message saying " The person at extension 0044 xxxxxxx is unavailable please leave a message.

Received a call from an Indian man this evening claiming to be calling from Sydney, but my caller I.D showed an overseas number, not interstate. Tried to tell me that my computer wasn't working properly, and that he was a rep from Windows who could help. He wouldn't give me his real name, the name of the company he worked for or any contact information unless I turned my computer on. After a lengthy debate about his intentions and authenticity, I politely told him to GET F**KED. With any luck they won't call back.
